AN EXPERIENCE FOR ALL

 

Camp focus will be on a wide range of skills, drills, and tactics to develop techniques which are essential to a players development in a competitive but fun environment.

 

CAMP PHILOSOPHY 

 

- Open to travel, recreation, and first time players.

 

- Develop social skills such as sportsmanship, work ethic and leadership.

 

- Balance intense individualized training with fun and challenging ‘World Cup’  style scrimmages each day.

 

- Place players in age / ability appropriate groups.

 

- Provide self confidence and psyche of all players through a nurturing and caring training environment.

 

 

CAMP CURRICULUM 

 

Monday - Passing and Receiving with emphasis on first touch both under pressure and under no pressure.

 

Tuesday - Dribbling / Running with the ball incorporating ball mastery in 1v1 attacking play in the final third of the field. (Stepovers, scissors, Ronaldo, etc...)

 

Wednesday - Defending with movement, rotation , and awareness in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 game like situations.

Thursday - Finishing / Shooting techniques and drills. (Accuracy, Power, Chip, Swerve, etc...) World Cup Finals!

About Soccer Director Matt Brooks

​

XL Soccer Camp is under the direction of former professional player and current Division 1 soccer coach Matt Brooks. Matt has been a professional coach and trainer in the south Jersey area for more than 25 years. Matt grew up in the suburbs of Liverpool, England and at the age of 10 was signed by professional team Wigan Athletic.

 

At the age of 16 Matt turned professional and despite suffering a double leg fracture he went on to spend 4 more years at the club. Whilst out injured, Matt began his love for coaching and started working with the younger Academy teams at all different age groups.

 

After arriving in the U.S. Matt played professionally for both the South Jersey Barons and also the Philadelphia Kixx for 5 years. Within that time Matt won a Championship with the Kixx defeating the Milwaukee Wave in front of a sell out crowd of 20,000 people.

 

In 2019 Matt was named as an assistant coach at Lasalle University for the Women’s Soccer Team, where he continues to specialize in working with the forwards. Matt has had great success coaching youth programs in the area and has guided numerous teams to multiple state cups within that time. With his passion for the game and his enthusiastic personality, Matt is recognized as one of the top coaches in the area. Matt currently holds his coaching badges in both the US and UK.
