With 15 game opportunities spread over 5 Saturday afternoons, your team will have plenty of chances to play, grow, and improve their skills. We offer three different divisions, each suited to different skill levels and age groups. No matter which division you choose, your team is sure to have a blast and grow their game playing against other teams their age and skill level. League Play will be as follows:

LEARNING DIVISION - GRADES 3-4 

• For teams that are absolute beginners, typically Grades 3 and 4 

• Lightweight youth volleyball used

• Coach(es) may assist players on court in between rallies

• Players may serve as close as 15 feet from the net (half-court)

• Net height 6’6”

• “Baseball” rule - 2 serve attempts, 3rd one tossed over

• Any combination of boys and girls on the court at any time

• “Mercy rule” - 5 consecutive points warrants automatic side-out

• Referees provided by XL Sports can step in to assist coach(es)

FRIENDSHIP DIVISION - GRADES 5-6 

• For teams with some volleyball experience, typically Grades 5 and 6

• Lightweight youth volleyball used

• Net height 7’

• Must have more girls than boys on court at any time

• “Tennis” rule - 1st serve attempt at service line, 2nd option at half-court

• “Mercy rule” - 10 consecutive points warrants automatic side-out

COMPETITIVE DIVISION - GRADES 7-8 

• For teams from experienced volleyball clubs, typically Grades 7 and 8

• Regular volleyball used

• Regular net height 7’4”

• Boys are not permitted to play in this division

• All matches adhere to USA Volleyball official rules and guidelines
